The pharmaceutical industry makes considerable use of Fluid Drum Dryers to lower the moisture content of raw materials like powders and granules. The fluidization of the materials being fed into the apparatus is part of its operation. Through a perforated bed of moist solid particles, hot air at a high temperature and pressure is injected into the system in this procedure. The solids are raised from the bottom and suspended in a stream of air while they are slightly damp (a fluidized state). Once the moist solids and hot gases come into close contact, heat transmission starts to happen. The liquid is removed by the dry gas. Sometimes, some of the gas that is leaving gets recycled.
